Every driver in the South is well aware of the annual bug season. While you might typically maintain a spotless vehicle, the arrival of swarming insects often forces you to surrender and accept the inevitable splatter, leaving you with no choice but to clean the remnants off later.
While there are ways to remove bugs from one’s car, standard car accessories and products may not be able to completely deal with the issue.
That’s where the TikTok account for Royalty Auto Service (@royaltyautoservice) comes in. On their page, they offer car enthusiasts a ton of advice about which cars to get and how best to maintain them.
They now offer a solution that can effectively tackle the challenges of bug season once and for all.
What are some effective ways to maintain a clear windshield during lovebug season?
In a video that has garnered more than 491,000 views, a technician from Royalty Auto Service discusses a particular type of windshield wiper blade that is claimed to be highly efficient in clearing bugs off windshields. At least, that's their assertion.
According to them, the distinction lies in the Scrubblade Wipers, which feature a dual-layer design adorned with “tiny triangles, resembling alligator or snakeskin texture.”
"The mechanic describes, 'As it sweeps over the windshield, it effectively cleans the surface.'"
Despite any skepticism from viewers, the mechanic firmly claims that he’s had them on his vehicle “during lovebug season,” supporting his statement with a photo showing a car blanketed in deceased lovebugs.
"He mentions that this product survived the lovebug season and certainly helped maintain a clearer windshield. He also notes that he has been using it on his vehicle for the past four months."
Do these blades effectively prevent the accumulation of bugs?
On Scrubblade Wipers’ website, the company claims that its blades are more effective at removing water and debris, like bugs, than their competitors, showing a series of graphs demonstrating that fact.
Although the specifics of the study's methodology are not revealed, reviewers appear to be pleased with the effectiveness of the blades in eliminating bugs.
“Seriously, these things help scrape the nastiest bugs and road grime off the windshield and appear to be able to last a long time. What else do you want from a wiper blade?” wrote one Amazon reviewer.
"I've encountered some huge issues here in Utah, but these windshield wipers do an incredible job of clearing everything away," said another person.
However, some reviewers reported varied or moderate effectiveness, indicating that individual results with the product could differ.
Users in the comments section voiced their frustration regarding the present situation of the wiper blade market.
"I'll give these a shot if they last me more than two months!" a user declared. "Wiper blades these days are total garbage. They don't last nearly as long as they used to!"

Others have reported achieving success with the product in question.
"A commenter mentioned, 'I've used this on my semi for several hundred thousand miles. It's a reliable product that really lasts.'"
"I sell them at my job. I have them on all my cars," a second person commented. "Here's a helpful tip: make sure to clean your glass beforehand. If you don't, you might experience some jumping until they settle in."
